About Me
I'm a yoga teacher because I love making people feel better. Sometimes this is primarily physical – by relieving pain and tension in the body – other times it is more mental or emotional – by reducing stress, helping people better understand and feel more connected to their body, and so on.
I also love puzzles, and each person’s body presents a new one. The reward of untangling these puzzles is people feeling better. Because everyone’s body is unique, I learn something new from each person I work with. This makes my work endlessly engaging, challenging, and inspiring.
My own experience with back and neck pain, and scoliosis have led me to take a special interest in the therapeutic applications of yoga to the spine. So many of us experience back or neck pain at some point in our lives. Whether due to a traumatic injury, genetics, or general postural issues, back pain can be both debilitating and extremely frustrating (especially when we don’t understand why we are in pain, or how to make it better). Working through my own frustrations, and eventually learning concrete and sustainable ways to move (and keep) myself out of pain, has enabled and inspired me to help others do the same.
I teach individual and small group classes so I can work with students in specific and highly personalized ways. This allows me to ensure that the work is appropriate for each person’s body, and that everyone truly understands the work that we are doing.

I did my first 500hr training at YogaWorks in Santa Monica, CA with my longtime mentor, Annie Carpenter. I continue to study with and assist Annie in her SmartFLOW Teacher Training programs all over the world. I am eternally grateful for Annie’s love and guidance. She has deeply shaped who I am today, both as a teacher and as a person.
In New York, I studied with Genny Kapuler, Nikki Costello, and Alison West. Under Alison’s guidance, I completed Yoga Union’s comprehensive 100hr Yoga for Backcare and Scoliosis Teacher Training. Alison and her work are a constant and profound inspiration; she has taught me so much, and I have so much more to learn from her.
Here in Austin, I currently have the privilege of studying with Devon Dederich, Peggy Kelley, and Anne Schultz.
